COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — A white Army noncommissioned officer portrayed at a viral movie accosting and hammering a Dark person in a South Carolina area has been charged using third-degree attack.
Jonathan Pentland, 42, was charged Wednesday and recorded since detained in the Richland County prison and issued with a personal recognizance bond, based to internet prison records,” which failed to reveal him as having an lawyer.
The video clip, published Monday by a female on Facebook and shared 1000s of times, shows that a man, identified as Pentland, requiring a dark person depart the neighborhood before threatening him with physical violence.
“You are in the incorrect area,” Pentland, looking at the sidewalk, and is heard saying about the different person before with the expletive. “I ai not having fun youpersonally. … I am going to reveal you exactly what I will perform ”
According to Shirell Johnson, that published the video, the episode occurred in a sub division of The Summit, which has a Columbia speech but is outside the town’s boundaries. The video clip does not reveal what began out off the battle. Johnson didn’t immediately respond to a note from The Associated Press seeking additional information.
The recording begins with Pentland, a U.S. Army sergeant first class, asking the Black man what he is doing inside the region. The Black guy says he had been only walking and not bothering anybody.
All through the three-minute online video clip, Pentland always requires that one other man abandon the neighborhood, becoming in his head and, at one position, pushing the guy, who almost falls into the ground.

Commenters about the movie said they’d reached out into the Richland County Sheriff’s Department requesting further costs to be registered. At a discharge issued early Wednesday, a department spokeswoman said deputies were dispatched to the neighborhood to”an assault” c all involving one of the men several days until the onset of the video clip, and then that all of the topics have been under identification.
